 On March 11, a massive earthquake and tsunami hit the northeast coastal region of Japan, which caused the region a huge loss of lives and properties. As you will be aware, they also caused an accident at a nuclear power station in Fukushima. On behalf of the government and people of  Japan, I would like to extend our sincere appreciation for the support and heart-warming messages kindly sent to us from your country’s government and people. We will never forget the signs of friendship and solidarity you have shown us in response to this historic tragedy.  
  We are now firmly determined to overcome all the difficulties we are being faced with, in order to keep contributing to the peace and prosperity of the world. We have started to concentrate our efforts on achieving the resumption of economic stability, getting citizens’ lives back to normal, resuming cultural activities and so on, throughout the country.  
 In the case of the tourism sector, we are committed to welcoming visitors from all over the world to our country. A vast majority of Japan’s regions and their tourism attractions have not been affected by the disasters at all and thus are completely prepared to welcome guests from around the world. 
 We hope to see many visitors from abroad come to such regions and have a good time without feeling any anxiety over safety or security during their stay. For that purpose, our organization will keep delivering the latest, accurate information on destinations in Japan in a timely manner.

There has been no change to this reading since the earthquake occured in Tohoku.  Is the 0.042 msv level  okay?　 For example, on a flight  between NewYork and Tokyo passengers are exposed to 0.2 ｍｓｖ viewed at National Institute of Radiological Sciences, http://www.nirs.go.jp/ENG/index.html. The level in Niseko are equivallent to 1/5 of the radiation experienced in flight.  No radiation effect has been found in Hokkaido until this time.

A series of tsunami, which immediately followed the quake, flooded ports, harbors and seaside tourist facilities on the Pacifi coast of Hokkaido.Tsunami alerts and warnings have been lifted, and recovery processes are underway at affected facilities.Airports, railways, expressways and national highways are back to normal with a few exceptions.I hereby inform that visitors and tourists who come to Hokkaido will not encounter any problems while travelling or staying in Hokkaido.

For those of you who are living in the district or are visting the district and would like to learn a little more Japanese to assist in the event of a medical emergency this may be just what you have been waiting for.  The Kutchan International Assistance Association is pleased to be hosting a series of 3 Medical Translation study groups at the Kutchan Heath Centre, there are no requirements for joining the study sessions and the purpose is to improve communication levels for the medical workers and secondly the patients that are appearing in the Hospital over the winter period.

This initiative will be an on going initiative with fully qualifyed International Medical assistants attending the study sessions from Sapporo and there is also support from much of the local International community, if you would like to make a difference and help the community become more customer orientated please do not hesitate to come along.

The Furuai Bus is a combination of several different Bus services that were offered in the Niseko Town Area (School Bus, Aged Care Bus, Town Bus) There are several different area's that the bus covers and when the routes were devised alot of the area's more popular sightseeing spots were also included. 

The buses run on Bio Diesel which is made in Niseko Town from recycled cooking oil from the different Hotel and pensions and have all been recently adapted with cycle racks on them for people to get their cycles around the district alot easier as well.

Great for Shopping and getting into the Restaurants in Niseko Town, for cycling and for seeing the district.
